North Star is a publicly funded, non-profit school district providing a safe and effective learning environment for your child. Our schools and district are non-profit. This is a rare statement in the Arizona charter world, and we are proud to be here to support our community in sustainable and selfless manner. North Star’s mission to help all students learn 21st-century skills was developed by our CEO and Executive Director, Kurt Huzar. Cyber High is represented at the district level by our group’s Site Coordinator, Janette Buell, as well as Principal of Cyber High — Elaine Penn.
We are a computer based school, currently using the Edgenuity Learning System. Edgenuity is 100% aligned to Common Core standards. We do not focus on the use traditional classrooms but we do have highly qualified teachers in all core subjects available to assist students when help is needed. We allow the student to focus on one class at a time allowing him/her to complete a one semester class in 3 to 4 weeks.
North Star utilizes data-based decision-making skills and analytics to manage the trust our community has given us, educating the future.
At Cyber HS, North Star is an integral part of our governance and leadership. Through governing board mentorship, volunteerism by governing board members at the school, and a family atmosphere in the building all of our schools feel as one giant school.
